1) How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

BOTOX® Cosmetic smooths fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily reducing muscle activity. Problem areas are specifically targeted to obtain a natural and improved appearance. BOTOX® Cosmetic is also commonly used to treat excessive sweating in the underarms and migraines. 

2) Is BOTOX® Cosmetic safe? 

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used in medicine for decades. Thousands of studies have been published over the years, it is one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA approved in the United States and approved in more than 80 other countries in the world.

3) When will I see results after BOTOX® Cosmetic injections? 

You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours. Results may last up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines. 

4) Will my face look overdone or unnatural? 

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. When administered by a licensed, trained, medical expert, results should look natural and subtle. You should still look like yourself, only with less noticeable lines. 

5) What should I expect? Does treatment hurt? 

Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Ice is used to help numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, a topical numbing ointment may be applied prior to injections. 

6) How much time does treatment take? 

The injection process takes a quick 10 minutes. During your consultation, treatment goals will be discussed and your cosmetic injection specialist will perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you.

7) How long is the recovery time after treatment?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. You will be asked to avoid strenuous activity, exercise, exposure to heat, massages, and facials for 24 hours. Also, it is recommended not to lay down for 4 hours after injections. 

8) What are the side effects?

Common side effects include temporary pain at the injection site, inflammation, redness, bleeding, and bruising. Less common side effects include infection, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, neck pain, droopy eyelids, eyelid swelling, and brow drooping.

10) Who should NOT use BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is contraindicated in women that are pregnant or breast-feeding. Also, individuals with neuromuscular disorders, medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response, individuals undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, or have an allergy to BOTOX® - should not be treated.
